I'm Not The Type to Get Knocked for DWI

Sure its lyrics to the classic 50 Cent song "Wanksta", but its also a great headline to an interesting bit of sports news I found last week. Turns out when Penn State played USC for the Rose Bowl on New Years Day, there was one person missing from the PSU sidelines...being the Penn State mascot, "Nittany Lion".

Traditionally, the mascot gets lots of airtime on TV during Penn State football games, but for those of you who watched USC's drubbing of Penn State in the Rose Bowl on New Years Day, one may have noticed the Nittany Lion absent from the game. Turns out the Nittany Lion never made the trip to Pasadena in the first place after getting a DWI.

Mats Sundin PokerStars Commercial

Seems that in the past few years one activity that has gained lots of national notoriety is the game of poker. Whether it be televised tournaments (WSOP), songs by famous artists (Lady Gaga - Poker Face), online poker commercials (Full Tilt) or the many famous celebrities (Charles Barkley) who have endorsed the sport, poker has jumped a lot in popularity from where it used to be..

Prior to this "poker boom", I had heard of the game, but never managed to play a game of poker in my life. Since the boom has begun, not only do I play poker every once in awhile, but I also watch poker events on TV, and keep an eye out for anything poker related in the news.

While watching TV earlier tonight, I saw a new poker commercial which featured NHL star Mats Sundin of the Vancouver Canucks. Was a pretty interesting spot, and I did not see this hockey/poker combination of a commercial coming from Poker Stars. Was a good spot featuring Sundin, and you can view the clip below.

Zune Down...

Microsoft has had several issues with some of its products in recent years.

First it was the XBox 360's "Three Red Rings" of death. This bug resulting in owners' 360's gaming consoles overheating, and literally dying out where they could not be utilized anymore. This led to a massive recall of Microsoft's popular video gaming system. After that, the controversial Microsoft Windows Vista operating system was released and the world seemed to be up in arms, as many have found different flaws/errors/etc. in the operating system since its release.

Now you can add the popular Microsoft Zune to that list. The Zune, a music player released in November of 2006 was designed to compete against Apple's iPOD and give people another choice when purchasing an MP3 player. So far, it has been a great product, but when the clock struck midnight on December 31st, 2008 a major programming bug hit the device, causing many Zune's to freeze up.

Users Report 30GB Zunes Seizing Up; Microsoft ID's Clock Bug

With the recent track history of Microsoft product issues, it makes me want to never purchase stuff from Microsoft anymore. One would wonder how three major products such as the XBox 360, Windows Vista OS, and Zune could all have such major flaws upon release. Just goes to show that Quality Control of a product is very important, and if it goes overlooked, it can bite a company in the butt. Its bit Microsoft several times in the past couple years, and currently has people like me not wanting to purchase anything from them anymore.

On a quick closing note, I've had an Apple iPOD for 3+ years right now, and I have had zero issues with it.

Happy New Year!!!

Well another year has come and gone, and 2009 is officially here...as for welcoming in the new year, December 31, 2008 was the first New Year's Eve in awhile I did not celebrate. It sucked as I was hoping to ring in the new year in some sort of festive way, but I guess you can't have it all.

The reason why I was unable to celebrate was due to work constraints, as on New Year's Eve, I ended up working until 11pm, and after work, proceeded to eat a quick dinner. After eating, I stayed up long enough to see the clock strike twelve, and immediately, I was in bed sleeping afterwards because I had to work a New Year's Day shift from 6:30am-3:00pm.

To break it down in simple terms...

2:30-11:00pm (NYE Shift) + 6:30am-3:00pm (NYD Shift) = No 2009 Celebration for Me

Anyways, 2009 is officially here and its gonna be a great year. As for a New Year's resolution, I currently have a couple in mind, but have not had the opportunity to figure out what exactly my resolution will be...I'll keep everybody posted on that one.
