24 Hours of Hoops
Roughly about five hours ago, ESPN began its twenty-four hours of basketball coverage on ESPN and ESPN2 to officially kickoff the 2008-09 college basketball season.
Dubbed the "College Hoops Marathon", the worldwide leader in sports is devoting every second to college basketball through various preview shows, a special episode of College Gameday and nine live televised games.
This is uncharted territory by all means as I've never seen a sports channel devote such a large amount of programming to a single sport like ESPN has decided to do. The closest thing I could think of in comparison to this is the New Years Day coverage of the college bowl games. Also, its one heck of a great way to kickoff the college basketball season as an event of this magnitude has not been attempted since the days ESPN used to cover Midnight Madness.
