KJ for Mayor?
Are you tired of hearing presidential mumbo jumbo about John McCain, Barack Obama and Hilary Clinton, the past couple days??? I am. Seems like everyday, a new story between Obama/Clinton surfaces everyday, and John McCain is patiently waiting to see who he will battle out for President of the USA. Quite frankly, I cannot wait until a new president is elected, as politics have been in the news way too much.
However, last night I read some rather interesting political story that was not about the next president of the USA. Instead it was about former Phoenix Suns point guard Kevin Johnson declaring his candidacy for Sacramento Mayor :
(March 5th - Sacramento Business Journal)
Kevin Johnson, a Sacramento developer and former NBA all-star, announced his candidacy for mayor Wednesday evening.
Johnson will challenge Mayor Heather Fargo, who filed papers on Monday to run for her third term. Johnson has picked up campaign papers, but has not filed them. The deadline to do so is Friday.
Johnson is the chief executive officer of St .Hope, which runs charter schools and has completed development projects in Oak Park. Johnson announced his campaign at the Guild Theater, which is part of his Oak Park redevelopment project.
Ten people have picked up the papers required to enter the mayor race, according to the city of Sacramento Web site. Only Fargo, Richard Jones and Shawn Eldridge have filed papers so far.
