Cubs/Dodgers -- Game Numero Uno

With a night of nothing on tap for me, I decided to watch the Cubs and Dodgers game on WGN. Its the first game of the series tonight, and I am bored with nothing else to do, so I am going to blog the action that takes place in my apartment tonight.

9:40 - First pitch of the night...the game has begun. I establish my seat on the couch, and get comfortable for the next three hours.

9:55 - Time to break out the sunflower seeds. Tonight's flavor of choice is the David's Ranch flavored seeds. I even go out of the way to cut open a Mountain Dew container to make a nice little spitting cup for my disposal.

10:25 - Time has passed from the last post, but the Cubs now find themselves in a 3-0 hole to the Dodgers thanks to Jeff Kent's second inning home run. I'd give Ted Lily an assist, as he basically threw a meaty fastball down the middle for Kent to hit. This results in some seed chewing, as I cannot stand the Cubs when they give up runs.

10:30 - With a runner on and no out, Derrek Lee steps up to the plate. First pitch, he swings and hits into a tailor made 6-4-3 double play. Its the second double play of the game, and from the looks of it, this game alone could become a drinking game of sorts for diehard Cubs fans. Every double play...tilt your beer can and DRINK UP!

10:45 - Jeff Kent hits an RBI double. With four RBI's and the Cubs down now 5-0 in the 5th inning, I proceed to stop the bleeding by turning off the television.
